Buffalo Bills stadium crews are clearing out 18 inches of snow that fell on the team’s hometown of Orchard Park this weekend.
The good news is that the forecast for today is for 2 to 3 inches, a bit less than what the National Weather Service was originally forecasting Sunday for Orchard Park.
The latest forecast this morning for kickoff at 8:20 p.m. today calls for a temperature of 26 degrees and a wind chill of 16 degrees. It is expected to be snowing, with about 1 to 3 inches expected Sunday night. The Bills play the San Francisco 49ers tonight.
The Bills shared photos and video on social media overnight showing heavy snow falling in the stadium. Crews were using snow plows and other equipment to clear the parking lots and the field. Others were clearing the seats.
As of 7 a.m. Sunday, a total of 18 inches of snow had fallen in Orchard Park, according to the weather service office in Buffalo.
Lake-effect snow has been hitting parts of Upstate New York, especially in Western New York and the North Country. The state Thruway closed out west of Buffalo for a time but has since reopened.
In January 2024, the Bills stadium was buried under nearly two feet of snow when the team faced the Pittsburgh Steelers. That game was pushed from Sunday to Monday due to the snow.
