A woman and a man entered a bank in Brazil the other day in order to take out a loan.
However, only one of them was alive at the time.
The New York Post reports how the woman — later identified as Erika de Souza Vieira Nunes — entered an Itaú bank in a suburb of Rio di Janeiro pushing an elderly man she referred to as “uncle” in a wheelchair.
Business Insiders continues to report how security footage of the bizarre incident shows de Souza Vieira informing the clerk how she and her “uncle” intended to take out a 17,000 reais ($3,250) loan. She can also be seen coaxing the elderly man to “sign” it, but his lolling head and lack of speech made the whole process difficult.
It also, says the Post, made the staff very suspicious.
“Uncle, are you listening? You need to sign,” says de Souza Viera Nunes. “If you don’t sign, there’s no way, because I can’t sign for you.”
Business Insider states that employees eventually called an ambulance. Medical personnel who responded to the scene confirmed that the man — whose identity was revealed to be Paulo Roberto Braga — had been dead for hours.

Further analysis, states Business Insider, points to the fact that the man most likely died from breathing difficulties and heart failure while lying down due to the position of blood clots in his neck.
The New York Post confirms de Souza Vieira Nunes was arrested and faces potential charges including theft through fraud.
Whether or not Braga was, in fact, her uncle remains unconfirmed.
